Cake Tasting Review

Our cake tasting was even better than I expected!
We sampled so many uniquely fabulous cakes and cupcakes from Edible Art Bakery!

Top to Bottom, Left to Right:
Cookies & Cream
Red Velvet
Vanilla Almond
Peaches & Cream
Key Lime Pie

I feel like you just cannot go wrong with Vanilla Almond. I was SOLD.
Jordan's favorite(by far) was the Red Velvet Cake with a layer of Cheesecake through the middle, O-M-G!

(pictured below along with a Vanilla Creme Brulee Cake)

With just so many choices, I think we will settle on our top three to make a perfect dessert buffet, although,
we may just have to back for more before we can make a final decision;)

Happy Birthday to my (newly engaged) best friend, Sarah!
This post is just for you and your fave color, Purple.

Today's the Day!

Today's the day!
Okay, not THE day...but it is taste testing day!
We are headed to Brainerd to finalize our dinner menu at Cragun's and sample cake flavors from the bakery we've chosen.
I feel like I have been waiting for this day from the very beginning. Throughout the planning, I have collected more pictures of cakes and dessert tables than dresses, flowers and invitations... Sad, but true.
 My mouth is already watering!
And so, today, I bring to you a sampling of my dessert picture collection:
Enjoy!

Decisions, Decisions...

As a hairstylist, I have seen many sweet brides go all bridezilla over their hair.
I get it. It is a big decision.
Your hair truly determines your look as a bride,
and you want to look your BEST!
Not to mention, it is sure to be the most photographed hairstyle you will ever have.

For me, it has been a nagging decision ever since I bought the dress.
Hair up? or down?
I've even considered both.
I could wear it down for the ceremony and up for the dance...
  Too high maintenance?

So much of what we are seeing on runways and red carpets are these "don't overthink it"  beachy waves and loosely swept updo's.
And still! I am overthinking it. Big surprise.

Decisions, decisions...

Trend Alert: Lanterns

Beautiful decor featured here

Cherry Red lantern for sale here

Hanging lanterns are perfection in this farm wedding here

Great addition to floral centerpieces shown here

I picked up a few of the lanterns above at IKEA for my own wedding.
They are currently doubling as home decor in our living room
which helps to justify the purchase;)

Paper lanterns are oh-so-elegant in all white as well as fun and simple in a variety of colors as seen below.

These and other wedding favors can be found here

Inspired By: An Friend's Intimate Wedding

I got exciting news from a friend, last night. After a long engagement, they have set a date and plans are coming together for a June 18th, 2011 wedding! Thats less than 5 months until their intimate church ceremony and dinner following at Chaing Mai Tai Restaurant in Minneapolis. Which just so happens to be the location of their first date and proposal! How perfect!
She asked for my help and obvioulsy, I couldn't wait to get to the details!
She is envisioning a small, simple, white wedding which I love!

The bride loves peonies and this arrangement of white roses and peonies(found here) is flawless.

The bride and groom have two beautiful daughters who will be a big part of their day. These flower girl dresses from Whitten Grey could not be more adorable. And, what's even better? Every time you purchase a dress from Whitten, they donate one to a girl in need. LOVE.

I knew the bride had purchased these gold frames to display their adorable engagement pictures at the reception. I think it's a fabulous idea!

The restaurant has a beautiful event room that really won't require much for decoration.

Being that the guest list is around 40 people, I envision lots of candles for decor that could be transferred from the church to the restaurant to warm it up and keep that intimate feel.
Congrats Pat and Dara! Can't wait for your big day!

LOVE: my latest etsy purchase

Aren't these banners just adorable?

I purchased 3 different sayings last week from funkyshique on etsy. Her banners are also featured in the latest issue of RealSimple Weddings and in several posts from one of my favorite blogs, Style Me Pretty.
Such a perfect addition to our reception!
I'll be waiting at my front door until they arrive;)
